A budapesti Bartók Béla Zeneművészeti Szakközépiskola diákjaiból 2007-ben alakult formáció tagjainak jókora klasszikus zenei előképzettsége miatt eleve nem indult egy átlagos népzenei együttesnek, már a kezdetektől merészen, kísérletező kedvvel nyúltak az autentikus zenéhez is. A kezdetben – és párhuzamosan azóta is töretlenül – népzenét játszó csapat figyelme a 2011-es, A38-on rendezett Talentométer tehetségkutatón fordult a könnyűzenei műfajok felé – népdalokat könnyűzenei köntösbe bújtató műsorukkal kategóriagyőztesek valamint közönségdíjasok is lettek. Ekkor született meg az a behatárolhatatlan, csavaros észjárású “Góbé” stílus, amely azóta is védjegye a zenekarnak. Magyar népdalokat játszanak, olykor vegyítve a környező népek zenéjével, de megtartva őket a saját tempójukban, stílusukban – dalonként más-más modern műfajba csomagolva. Különleges, akusztikus hangszereik technikai határait feszegetve hoztak létre újszerű, de etnikus hangképeket. Rock, blues, dubstep, reggae, metal, jazz, pop, hiphop, és ami eszükbe jut – a zene univerzális nyelvén, a stílusok dialektusában beszélnek. Voltaképpen egy olyan “népi popzenét”, alkottak, amely amellett, hogy szórakoztató és kortárs, megőrzi tradicionális ízeit. Céljuk, hogy közelebb hozzák a népzenét az emberekhez, megismertessék azt a zenekultúrát is, ami a populáris dalaik mögött van. A zenekar legújabb nagylemeze 2025 decemberében jelent meg Túl világon címmel, amin olyan vendégelőadók, szerzőtársak is szerepelnek, mint Oscar Beerten (BE), Afrikora (SE), Budapesti MediCantare Vegyeskar, Zajnal, Sárkány Bertalan. The ensemble was formed in 2007 from students of the Bartók Béla Secondary School of Music in Budapest. Because of their strong classical musical background, they were never an average folk ensemble from the start; they approached authentic folk music with a bold, experimental spirit. Originally—and continuously alongside their later developments—the group played folk music, but their direction shifted toward lighter musical genres during the 2011 Talentometer talent competition held at A38. With their program of folk songs reimagined in a pop music style, they became category winners and audience award recipients. This was the moment when the distinctive, hard-to-define “Góbé style” was born, which has remained the band’s trademark ever since. They perform Hungarian folk songs, sometimes blending them with the music of neighbouring peoples, while preserving their original tempo and style—each song reimagined in a different modern genre. By pushing the technical boundaries of their acoustic instruments, they create fresh yet ethnic soundscapes. Rock, blues, dubstep, reggae, metal, jazz, pop, hip-hop, and anything else they feel like—speaking the universal language of music through the dialects of style. In essence, they have created a kind of “folk pop music” that is both entertaining and contemporary, while preserving traditional flavours. Their goal is to bring folk music closer to people and to introduce the musical culture behind their popular songs. Their latest album, Túl világon (“Beyond the World”), was released in December 2025 and features guest performers and co-creators such as Oscar Beerten (BE), Afrikora (SE), Budapesti MediCantare Mixed Choir, Zajnal, and Bertalan Sárkány.
